I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600X with an RTX 2080 Ti and play at 1440p. My main games are Deadlock, PUBG, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, and Counter-Strike. I'm considering a 5800X3D upgrade because moving to AM5 would also require buying a new motherboard and DDR5 memory. Would the 5800X3D provide a worthwhile improvement, or would upgrading the graphics card make more sense first?

If you want to stay on AM4, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D is usually the better value than the 5800X3D if you can find it at a reasonable price. The 5800X3D is still a strong gaming chip, but it may be expensive or difficult to find, and the performance difference is not always worth paying a large premium for.
Before spending heavily on a 5800X3D, compare the total cost with a used AM5 setup. A Ryzen 5 7600 or 7600X, an inexpensive B650 board, and 16GB or 32GB of DDR5 can sometimes cost less than expected. Selling your current CPU, motherboard, and memory can reduce the difference further, and the 7600X is generally faster than a 5800X3D in many gaming workloads.
Prices vary a lot by country, so check local used listings and bundle deals. AM5 is more expensive upfront, but it gives you a clearer future upgrade path.
At 1440p, your RTX 2080 Ti may be the limiting part in many games, so a graphics card upgrade could provide a bigger overall improvement. However, the X3D chips can noticeably improve frame rates and especially frame-time consistency in CPU-heavy games like Counter-Strike, Valorant, and Siege. Check your GPU usage and CPU usage while playing before deciding.
For your current system, I would first monitor whether the 5600X or 2080 Ti is hitting its limit in each game. If the GPU is near full usage at 1440p, prioritize the graphics card. If you are chasing very high refresh rates and the GPU has plenty of headroom, an X3D processor makes more sense. You do not necessarily need to upgrade immediately; the 5600X is still capable at 1440p.
Availability can be rough depending on where you live. A 5600X3D or 5500X3D could also be worth considering for games that benefit from extra cache, but the upgrade from a 5600X is smaller than moving to a 5700X3D or 5800X3D.
