I'm considering upgrading my PC, which currently has a Ryzen 7 5800X, RTX 4070 Ti, 32 GB of DDR4-3600 memory, and an M.2 SSD. I mainly play CPU-heavy games such as Escape from Tarkov and Star Citizen, while the RTX 4070 Ti seems sufficient for 1440p gaming. Most other games run smoothly at high settings, but I have noticed CPU bottlenecks in those titles.
The simplest option would be replacing the 5800X with a 5800X3D, but spending around €350 for what feels like a relatively small upgrade is hard to justify. A Ryzen 7 7800X3D would provide a stronger platform upgrade, but it would also require a new motherboard and DDR5 memory. A complete new build would cost roughly €2,800, possibly with an RTX 5070 Ti, RX 9070 XT, or RTX 5080, though I'm unsure whether those GPUs would be a meaningful improvement over my current card.
Would you upgrade the CPU, move to AM5, replace the whole system, or simply wait? I'd also appreciate suggestions for improving performance without spending a large amount of money.

The 5800X3D or 5700X3D can make a surprisingly large difference in games such as Tarkov because of the extra 3D V-Cache. However, paying around €350 for an end-of-platform upgrade is difficult to recommend unless those games are your main priority. Check actual CPU and GPU utilization first, and consider tuning settings, background processes, and memory performance before buying anything.
Your system is already very capable, and I wouldn't replace the whole PC just yet. The 4070 Ti is a good match for 1440p, so a GPU upgrade probably wouldn't solve the bottleneck in CPU-heavy games. If the stutters and frame-time issues are only occasional, waiting for better pricing and a more worthwhile upgrade may be the best choice.
You could also look at a newer processor platform that supports DDR4, but that would still mean buying a motherboard and would leave you on an aging memory standard. Since your current DDR4-3600 kit is perfectly reasonable, changing platforms only makes sense if you're aiming for a clear long-term upgrade rather than a small performance bump.
I'd vote no for now. Unless the CPU bottlenecks are preventing you from enjoying the games, keep the current setup and monitor frame times, CPU utilization, and GPU utilization. A complete €2,800 build with a 5070 Ti or 9070 XT would not necessarily feel dramatically faster than your current PC, so waiting or upgrading only the CPU later is likely better value.
If you want a substantial upgrade and can afford it, move to AM5 with a 7800X3D or a newer equivalent, a suitable motherboard, and DDR5 memory. You can recover some of the cost by selling the 5800X, motherboard, and DDR4 kit, or passing them on to someone else. Keep the RTX 4070 Ti for now and upgrade the GPU later when you actually need more 1440p performance.
A graphics card upgrade would likely do very little for these particular games. The X3D chips are much more relevant when the frame rate is limited by the processor.
