Should I Upgrade to an X3D Chip with My Ryzen 7 7700 Setup?

I'm currently running a Ryzen 7 7700 with a 9070XT and a 4K monitor. I'm wondering if upgrading to a 7800X3D or even a 9800X3D would bring noticeable performance improvements for gaming. What do you think? Are the benefits worth the investment?

Your setup sounds good enough for what you're doing! Upgrading to an X3D CPU might give you slight improvements in frame stability, but not much for average FPS at 4K. If you’re more into demanding CPU tasks or games with heavy calculations, that could be a different story, but for regular gaming? I'd say hold off on the upgrade and maybe save for future tech instead.

Yeah, just stick with what you've got for now. The 7700 will run most games really well for years to come. Maybe look at upgrading your GPU down the line instead!

I upgraded from a 7700 to a 7800X3D, and the main boost I noticed was in 1% lows for FPS games, especially at 1440p. However, at 4K, the differences were minimal unless you're into heavily competitive gaming. So, if you can get a great deal, it might be worth it, but generally it's not a game changer.

Honestly, I don't think you'll see a big difference at 4K. The Ryzen 7700 is already pretty capable, and it seems like you're more GPU-limited with your 9070XT. Unless you're playing CPU-intensive titles, I'd save your money for something else or maybe invest in a nice screen upgrade instead.

If you want to check CPU bottlenecking, just see if your GPU is maxing out when you're gaming.
