Should I wait for Black Friday before building a gaming PC?

I'm planning to build a gaming PC mainly so I can play with friends again, since I used to game a lot. I'm not in a rush, and my current laptops struggle with everyday tasks, but I also don't use them very often. My total budget is around $3,000, and I'm wondering whether it would be smarter to wait for Black Friday deals or buy the parts sooner. I'm trying to get good value without letting prices rise before I purchase.

Black Friday pricing is not always as good as it looks. Some retailers raise prices beforehand and then advertise the old price as a discount. It may be better to track prices for the parts you want and buy whenever a genuine deal appears, rather than waiting for one specific shopping event.

Used parts can also offer better value, especially for cases, monitors, and sometimes graphics cards, but make sure you can test them and understand the warranty situation.

Component prices have been pretty volatile, especially for graphics cards, memory, and storage. If you already know what performance you want and can afford the system, buying sooner is probably safer than betting on a future sale. A $3,000 budget is enough for a very high-end gaming setup, so you don’t need to compromise much.

You could build a strong system for roughly $2,000–$2,200 and use the rest of the budget for a good monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other accessories. If you’re ready to play and the current prices fit your budget, I’d choose the parts now instead of assuming Black Friday will bring major savings.

Black Friday deals are difficult to predict, and PC components usually don’t see huge across-the-board discounts anymore. You might find worthwhile deals on a monitor, case, fans, or occasionally an SSD, but the main components may not drop much. Prices could even rise before then, so there’s no guarantee waiting will save money.
