Struggling to Install CachyOS – Need Tips!

I'm having a really frustrating time trying to install CachyOS on my PC. I used Rufus to create a USB drive, but I didn't use the DD mode since most distros I've tried before didn't require it. After successfully installing CachyOS, I couldn't find it in the UEFI boot menu—only Windows showed up, which is on a different disk. After a lot of tinkering, I ended up removing CachyOS completely and resetting my partitions to boot Windows again. I've read that using Balena Etcher is recommended to create the USB for CachyOS, but I find it confusing and it doesn't seem to have the options I need. Now, no matter what I do, I can't boot from the USB; it just skips to Windows. I've also disabled secure boot and checked my UEFI settings, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any advice on how to get CachyOS installed?

I've pretty much stopped using Rufus and Balena Etcher for making installer media. Have you tried using Fedora Media Writer or Ventoy instead? Those are usually more reliable. Also, once you're booted into the live session, run the `efibootmgr` command to check if you're actually booted in UEFI mode, which could be causing problems. Sometimes, USBs appear twice in the boot menu—once for UEFI and once for legacy—so make sure you select the right one!

You should definitely have more luck with Etcher. But can you tell me what brand your computer is and which BIOS you're using? That might help pinpoint the issue better.

I totally get how tricky this can be! I disabled CSM and enabled legacy USB too, but my boot menu only shows Windows—no signs of CachyOS anywhere. It's quite frustrating! Keep repeating the Balena process; maybe it just needs a solid restart or a different USB drive?
