Struggling to Land My First IT Internship — Any Advice?

I'm a 20-year-old computer science student from Uzbekistan, and I'm having a tough time securing my first IT internship. Here's what I've got:

- My primary programming language is Python.
- I've successfully deployed multiple blockchain tokens on mainnet.
- I've completed university projects that are available on GitHub.
- My English proficiency is at a B2/C1 level.

I've tried reaching out to local companies and using LinkedIn, but I haven't received much feedback. I'm wondering:

1. Is my portfolio causing the lack of responses, or is it more about how I'm applying?
2. Are remote internships realistic from Central Asia?
3. What strategies worked for you when you were starting out?

I'm open to honest advice and feedback!

Without seeing your projects or application strategies, it's hard to say exactly what needs improvement. Focus on broadening your skillset and keep adding new projects—not just ones from university. If you're looking for remote jobs, definitely go for it! The challenge is really just getting that first chance. I got lucky when a lecturer helped me land a position through a master's program. Maybe explore similar opportunities with other colleges or programs.

Try reaching out to people in your desired field on LinkedIn. It's also a good idea to create a short demo page or curate your GitHub to highlight what you've accomplished and the impact of your projects.

Thank you, truly.

It sounds like your portfolio is solid, but the issue is mostly companies not getting back to you. My advice is to apply everywhere you can and don't hesitate to spam referrals! Getting the first job is tough these days, but persistence is key.
