I'm trying to upload a screenplay that's less than 100 pages long to Claude Sonnet 4, but I'm getting an error saying the document exceeds acceptable length. The screenplay has many fewer words than you'd expect for a document that size. Is there something I'm missing here? I'm subscribed to the pro plan, so I thought I could upload larger files without issues.

I had the same issue! I just signed up for the pro plan too, thinking it would allow me to upload larger files, but it turns out the limit is actually 30MB, not 30GB. I was trying to upload a novel that’s about 350 pages, and it was just a small file, yet I ran into the same problem. So I think the issue might be with the file format or size, rather than just the number of pages.
It sounds like the document might have some images or complex formatting, which could be causing the issue. Sometimes PDFs with embedded images or non-text elements really bloat the token size. A workaround I've tried is to convert my PDF to markdown or just extracting the text to review it. You might also split your document into smaller parts before uploading.
