Suggestions for Upgrading My Old PC for Gaming

I'm looking to upgrade an older HP OMEN Desktop PC (model 880-pOxx) for gaming. The current specs include an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 3GB of memory, an i5-7400 CPU clocked at 3.00GHz, and 8GB of RAM. My main goal is to be able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 smoothly at 60FPS. I don't need high-end performance, just something stable that can handle the game. My budget for this upgrade is £200 maximum. Thanks for the help!

Honestly, with your current setup, you might struggle to run RDR2 smoothly. You might want to think about getting a new PC instead, but if you want to upgrade, check your RAM configuration. If you're running two 4GB sticks, you might consider replacing them with a 16GB kit, although that could be pricey right now. After that, upgrading to a GPU like a 2070 Super or an RX 6700 would be ideal, but it's tough with your budget.

You should check the power supply unit (PSU) in your Omen. If it's a 500W PSU, you could go for a 2070 Super and add another 8GB of RAM. Just make sure whatever GPU you choose is compatible with your PSU!

It's a 500W PSU.
