I'm considering making the switch to Fedora but have some questions first. I've gone through some distro hopping; started with Ubuntu years ago, then tried Linux Mint, which I liked, but I switched to Bazzite for its stability in gaming. Unfortunately, I ran into a lot of issues because of its immutable nature, making fixes complicated. I returned to Mint and am generally happy, but I'm really keen on using KDE Plasma and Fedora's cutting-edge features. My main concern is about stability: how often do people experience problems with system updates in Fedora? I know it varies per setup, but I'm looking for some averages. I want to avoid being constantly bogged down by bugs after new releases. Backups are great and all, but if issues are frequent, I might reconsider. Thanks for your insights!

Fedora is known for being cutting edge but not quite bleeding edge, so there's a level of stability you can expect with updates. I've been on Fedora since version 38 and now on 43, and I've rarely had issues with updates. The most notable one was a hiccup with Wine during my upgrade to 43 because of package changes, but it was easy to workaround. Kernels rarely cause problems either, and Fedora keeps the last two kernels so you can revert if needed. Plus, if you use BTRFS, you can take snapshots and roll back easily if something does go wrong. I've set it up but didn't end up needing to use it.
Any other tips for a beginner trying out Fedora? I plan on watching some install videos to get ready!
Can I choose the BTRFS file system during installation, or do I need to format my drive first? And it's funny you haven’t had to use BTRFS for recovery; it's like keeping a lifeboat on a ship and hoping it doesn't sink!
