Thinking About Upgrading My GPU from a 3080 Ti, Need Some Clarity on Terminology

Hey everyone, I'm considering upgrading my GPU from my current 3080 Ti and could use some guidance. Here are my specs:
- CPU: Intel i7-12700k
- GPU: NVIDIA 3080 Ti (12 GB)
- RAM: DDR4 3200
- Resolution: 3480x1440

I'm looking to boost my frame rates but I'm getting lost in all the jargon like DLSS, frame generation, ray tracing, and path tracing. I've heard mixed opinions about DLSS being 'choppy' and 'fake frames,' but I don't really grasp how it all works. I usually play expansive games like Rust or Escape from Tarkov, and I want to be ready for upcoming titles like the new Spider-Man, GTA VI, or a new Elder Scrolls. I've thought about upgrading to either the 5070 Ti or the 5080, but I'm just unsure about what's best. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I upgraded from a 3070 Ti to a 5070 Ti, and the difference was pretty amazing – my FPS more than doubled. If your budget permits, definitely go for the 5080 for better future-proofing. Prices on GPUs tend to rise over time, so investing in a better card now might be wise. Also, keep an eye on specific games you play to see if they support DLSS or other enhancements.

What about performance between the 5070 Ti and 5080? Is it worth the extra cost?

If you're stuck choosing between the 5070 Ti or 5080, think about your gaming performance expectations. DLSS and frame generation can really boost your FPS, but typically at the cost of some visual quality. Meanwhile, ray tracing enhances graphics quality but can impact performance. So it really depends on what you prioritize: visuals or performance.

That makes sense! What about games that don’t support DLSS or frame generation? Can I still expect decent FPS with the new card?
