Hey everyone! I decided to upgrade my gaming rig and I'm focusing on getting a Ryzen 7 5700X3D. The challenge is finding one at a reasonable price since they seem to be quite expensive these days. I've looked on eBay, and I found some listings around 500 CAD, which seems a bit more manageable. Has anyone had experience buying this particular CPU or any CPU from sellers online? I'm looking at one option, but I'd appreciate any advice or anecdotes you might have! Thanks!

Just a heads up, the 5500X3D is also available, and I picked one up for around $160 USD last month. It offers great price/performance for gaming right now. But be careful; not all AM4 motherboards are compatible with it due to BIOS updates. I have a B450 board that doesn't support it yet!
I got my 5700X3D for about $150 around a year and a half ago. I had no clue it would become such a hot commodity! If you're looking for that CPU, just be prepared to pay up now.
I heard they're thinking about restarting production on the 5800X3D soon. If the prices on the 5700X3D are too high, it might be worth waiting to see what happens with that.
Honestly, I'd suggest not going for the 5700X3D. You could get the regular 5700X, which performs about 80-90% as well for a third of the price. It's a solid option if you're on a budget!
I appreciate the advice! I’m not very knowledgeable about parts; I'm coming from a Ryzen 5 2600. I heard the 3D cache is beneficial for performance, but I'm still learning.
Prices for the 5700X3D are pretty inflated since they aren't being produced anymore. They originally sold for under $200 CAD new. If you're patient, it might be worth it to wait and see if they release the 5800X3D again; just be prepared for it to be pricey too!

Good to know! I have a B550 board, so I should be safe with the 5500X3D, right?
