Hey everyone! I'm a freshman studying Computer Science at Stanford, and I've been having a tough time keeping up with my classes. I narrowly passed last semester, but I really want to improve this time around, especially since I'm taking CS106B, which I've heard is super challenging. While there is a free tutoring service for CS majors at my school, most of the tutors seem like they're just doing it for resumes and aren't really invested in helping students truly understand the material. I also tried using Wyzant last semester, which was a bit pricey, and while my tutor seemed great, he wasn't very reliable with scheduling. So I'm reaching out to see if anyone has recommendations for more dedicated tutors who can help me with assignments and exam preparation. Thanks a bunch!

I was in a similar situation last semester with a tough Theory of Computation class. I ended up finding a great tutor through a site called Epiphany Tutor. He was patient and incredibly knowledgeable, plus they had discounts for new students at the time! If you're interested, feel free to DM me—I might have a referral bonus!
I taught Python for Stanford’s Online Code in Place program, which covers CS106 topics. I focus on helping my students understand the concepts rather than just solving problems. If you're interested, I can help you grasp the material much better! Let me know if you want to chat!
Have you considered using the tutoring services at your school? I used to tutor CS and found many students struggle at first, but once they understand the concepts, things get much easier. It's all about finding that breakthrough moment, so talking to tutors regularly could help!
I did some tutoring during my school days, and I'm a recent graduate, so the material is fresh in my mind. I’d be happy to do some trial sessions with you to help clear things up! DM me if you're interested!
I suggest checking out Murach books. They're fantastic for self-study and can really help you get a better handle on programming concepts. Plus, the examples are pretty straightforward, which might make things click for you!
I took a look at the syllabus for CS106B, and it seems like a challenging course, especially since it covers data structures and C++. I still think the free tutoring option is your best bet since they took the class and can offer real insight. If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to reach out! I've been programming for years and am happy to help!
