I'm using a Dell Latitude 5450 running Windows 11. My cursor disappeared when I logged in, and the built-in touchpad doesn't respond at all. A USB mouse works normally, but as soon as I unplug it, the cursor freezes and the touchpad remains unusable. I've restarted the laptop and checked Device Manager and the drivers, but nothing has helped. This has happened once before and briefly fixed itself after plugging and unplugging the USB mouse. What else should I check?

Check whether the touchpad has been disabled by a hardware shortcut. On Dell laptops, this may be one of the function keys or a key with a touchpad icon. Some models also have a touchpad corner or double-tap area that toggles it on and off. If the keyboard shortcut doesn’t work, check the touchpad settings in Windows and the touchpad option in the BIOS.

I tried the function keys, but none of them seem to bring the touchpad back.
