I recently upgraded my CPU from a Ryzen 5 3600 to a Ryzen 7 5700x on my ASUS ROG Strix B450-F Gaming motherboard. After updating the BIOS and installing the new CPU, I'm only getting a black screen on boot. I've tried resetting the CMOS, but still no luck. What could be causing this issue?

Make sure you're using the video output from your GPU and not the motherboard. The Ryzen 7 5700x doesn’t have integrated graphics, so if your monitor is connected to the motherboard, you'll get a black screen. If you're good there, try reflashing the BIOS again and load the default settings. Also, boot with your RAM set to JEDEC speed before enabling XMP.
Have you tested the old CPU to see if it still works in your setup? If it’s working fine, that might help narrow down the issue.
Sometimes the CPU cooler can come loose, affecting the connection. Even though you have a clip-on cooler, double-checking all connections can help. If everything seems alright, have you considered that the new CPU might be defective? It might be worth contacting the retailer for a replacement.
Check if any lights are on your motherboard when you power it on. A green light indicating DRAM or CPU would typically mean some power is getting through. If you’re seeing different colors with the old CPU vs. the new one, it could indicate there's a problem with the new CPU installation or compatibility.

I didn’t catch that JEDEC thing before. What is it exactly?
