Troubleshooting Latency Issues on My New PC Build

Hi everyone,

I just finished building a new computer and have been facing some frustrating latency issues. Even when I'm not doing much, like just having a browser open, I experience significant latency spikes. Sometimes a restart helps, and other times it leads to system freezes and crashes. I'm not a native English speaker, so I hope my explanations make sense as I'm translating my system settings manually.

Here are my system specs:
- MSI MAG X870 Tomahawk
- Ryzen 7 9800X3D
- 64GB RAM
- NVIDIA RTX 5080

I've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, including:
- Updated chipset and BIOS drivers
- Installed new NVIDIA drivers multiple times, both fresh and without extra software
- Adjusted settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel for maximum performance, turning off features like V-Sync and G-Sync
- Set fixed framerate for my monitor and turned HDR off
- Disabled quickstart and automatic driver updates
- Tweaked RAM settings, along with several other performance-related adjustments
- Used system tools like sfc /scannow and DISM to check for issues
- Disabled unnecessary startup applications
- Set my desktop background to a static picture

Despite all that, I'm still having these problems. Any help or additional troubleshooting advice would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried using a tool like LatencyMon? It might help identify specific drivers causing latency issues. I found that nvlddmkm.sys was causing delays on my setup. It's a handy diagnostic tool if you're not already using it.

Make sure all your components, especially the GPU, are correctly installed and seated. It's also a good idea to check the temperatures. Even if you just have the keyboard, mouse, and monitor plugged in, sometimes peripherals can cause unexpected issues. Monitor those temps closely too!
