Troubleshooting Microphone Static Issues

I'm having trouble with my microphone and I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software issue. My computer recognizes the microphone when it's plugged in, but all I hear during mic tests is static. I have two microphones: one built into my IEMs and another standalone mic, both connected via 3.5mm jacks. The standalone mic is plugged into the pink jack on my motherboard, while the IEMs are in the green jack and working fine for audio.
I've tried several methods I've found online to resolve this, but nothing has worked so far. I really want to fix this issue, especially since I have a GIGABYTE B450M DS3H motherboard, and I've noticed my case doesn't even have an HD audio jack.
Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your front panel audio might be set to the HD Audio standard, but your case actually uses the older AC'97 standard. You should check your BIOS settings and switch it to AC'97, which could fix the mic issue. Give that a try!

Make sure you're plugging the mic into the back of your computer rather than the front; it usually works better that way. Also, check if your mic cable has two or three black rings โ if itโs three, itโs a combo jack and you'll need a splitter. Additionally, do check if there's a physical off switch on your mic; those can often cause static if muted. And don't forget to verify your sound settings in Windows โ ensure the correct audio device is selected and the gain is set appropriately.
CuriousCat42: And how do I actually set the gain?
AudioPro24: Iโve connected it straight to the motherboard jacks (blue, green, or pink). Iโve gone over the sound settings but I didnโt check for a button.

CuriousCat42: Iโll try that in just a minute and let you know if it works!
AudioPro24: Iโm having trouble finding that option in my BIOS. Also, my case doesnโt have a jack at all.
