Upgrading My CPU: Is It Worth It with My New GPU?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a 4060 Ti from my old 1080, and I'm really excited about the boost in performance. However, I've noticed that I'm not getting the expected performance improvements while playing a heavily modded instance of Minecraft. I have a Ryzen 5 5600X, and it seems like Minecraft is really pushing one of my CPU threads to its limits. Do you all think I should consider upgrading my CPU for better performance? Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

Yeah, sounds like this combo is perfectly fine! Your setup is good, and it’s probably just the modpack you're running that’s not optimized. Keep an eye on your GPU usage though, that can give you a better idea of how your system is handling the game.

Honestly, your 5600X is a solid CPU and shouldn’t be bottlenecking your 4060 Ti at all. It’s likely that Minecraft, especially modded versions, just doesn't utilize multiple cores well, which might make it seem like the CPU is struggling. You might not need to rush into an upgrade just yet.

You're definitely not being bottlenecked! The 5600X is great for gaming, especially paired with a 4060 Ti. It sounds like the mod pack you're using is the culprit since many modded games can be really poorly optimized.
