Hi there! I bought a Dell XPS 8930 in 2018, but it hasn't been working for video editing and gaming lately. I'm trying to gear it up for some serious video work and to enjoy Baldur's Gate with mods and the occasional game of Civ. My setup includes three monitors, including a Kamvas 22HD or Cintiq, which adds to my need for a solid upgrade. I'm getting a bit overwhelmed trying to figure out which parts will work together due to my motherboard's limitations.
Here's my current setup:
- **CPU**: Intel i7-8700 3.2GHz
- **Motherboard**: IPCFL-VM CN-0DF42J, Micro-ATX, Chipset Z370, Socket LGA 1151, DDR4
- **GPU**: NVIDIA GTX-1060
- **PSU**: Whatever came with the XPS (460W)
I'm considering:
- **PSU**: Corsair RM750 (but I can't find it for sale here in Japan, only other RM models). Would a non-i model work? I'm confused about the connector differences.
- **CPU**: i9-9900k, but I hear it might be too hot. Can I just add more fans?
- **GPU**: RTX 3060, wondering about the 8GB vs 12GB versions and if my motherboard can handle it.
I'm feeling a bit lost in this upgrade process and just need some clear advice. I would really appreciate any guidance to help me move forward without going down a rabbit hole!

For your Z370 board, the i9-9900k is definitely the best CPU option. If you're considering a GPU, maybe look at a used RTX 3070; it's a solid upgrade from the 1060. Don't stress about the PSU too much—around 600-650W should do the trick!

Yeah, sounds like a plan! Definitely keep that i9 in mind, and a 3070 is a great way to boost performance. Just make sure to actually check its size before you buy!
