Upgrading My Graphics Card for an i7 7700k Setup: What’s the Best Option?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card but I'm not sure what would work best with my current setup. I have an i7 7700k processor that I've delidded and put liquid metal in, along with a custom watercooling system. It's overclocked to 5GHz. Currently, I'm using a 1080 Ti, which is also on water. I have 32GB of RAM as well. I've heard bottleneck calculators can be misleading, so I'm curious about which graphics card would still run well with my setup without needing a complete overhaul. Thanks for your help!

If you just upgrade the GPU, you might run into bottleneck issues since the i7 7700k is getting pretty long in the tooth. Maybe look at a used motherboard and CPU combo instead; it'll make a bigger difference in performance in the long run. A higher-end GPU like the 5070 will definitely be held back by your current CPU.

Honestly, if you’re still rocking that 1080 Ti, you might not see much improvement with a newer card, especially given your older CPU. It might be worth sticking with what you have unless you really want to invest more. If you do decide to upgrade, consider the RTX 3060 12GB or RX 7600 XT, as they could be decent options that won't break the bank, but don't expect massive gains. Your setup is pretty solid for what it is!

In my experience, the 7700k can bottleneck some newer cards, especially if you upgrade to something like a 4060 or higher. If you're set on keeping your current CPU, the performance increase might not be worth it. As said, a used CPU and motherboard upgrade could really help you out more.
