I bought a prebuilt PC in 2021 and have only upgraded the GPU to a 4060ti last Christmas, which I love! Currently, I have a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU and a B550 AM4 motherboard. I'm looking to make a big upgrade to AM5 and have my eye on a Gigabyte B850 motherboard, but I'm open to suggestions if there's a better option out there. As for the CPU, I want to future-proof my setup with something from the Ryzen 9000 series. I'm considering the Ryzen 7 9800x3d or the Ryzen 5 9600x, but I'm not sure which one to go for. I play games (nothing too extreme) and want my PC to handle upcoming AAA titles smoothly. Plus, I'm interested in getting into video creation soon, and I need advice on which CPU would be best for that. Any thoughts would be really helpful!

If you're focused on budget and want good performance, the 9600x is a smart choice. It's a great deal for what you get. But if you're leaning towards the best of the best, the 9800x3d is top-notch. Alternatively, you might want to check out the 9700x; it performs similarly in games to the 7800x3d and can be excellent for productivity tasks. About the motherboard, go for a solid Gigabyte B850, but skip the absolute cheapest models. Aim for something like the Eagle or Gaming X that's full-sized for better VRM support.

Thanks for the tip! When you say full-sized, are you talking about ATX versus mATX boards?
