I recently bought a Sapphire Nitro+ Special Edition RX 6900 XT for €390. Was that a good deal for the current market, and which Nvidia GPU would you consider its closest equivalent? I'm using it with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, if that affects the comparison.

The closest Nvidia comparison is usually the RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 4070. Newer AMD cards may be more efficient, but at €390 you still got a powerful card with plenty of VRAM.
I’d call it a good buy. The 6900 XT is older, but it remains strong for high-resolution gaming and the Nitro+ version has a particularly robust cooler and build quality. Your 7800X3D is more than fast enough to support it.
Checking recently sold listings in your region is the best way to judge the exact market value. Either way, €390 for a 6900 XT is not a bad deal, so I’d just enjoy the card rather than worry about whether you could have saved a little more.
For regular gaming, it’s still a very capable 1440p and even 4K card. It can trade blows with an RTX 3080 Ti and occasionally approach RTX 3090 performance, although ray tracing is noticeably weaker. Given current European GPU prices, €390 seems quite reasonable.
That’s a solid price, especially for the Nitro+ model. Its closest Nvidia comparisons are generally the RTX 3080 Ti or RTX 4070, depending on the game. The 6900 XT usually offers more VRAM, while Nvidia has better ray tracing and features like DLSS.
