I recently bought a system with an RTX 5060, Ryzen 5 7500F, and a B840M motherboard. I use it for AAA gaming as well as coding, and the complete setup cost me around $1,190. Was this a poor choice, or is it a sensible build for my budget and needs?

Unless you were expecting a top-end system, thereโ€™s no need to worry. A much more expensive graphics card, processor, and large amount of memory would improve performance, but they arenโ€™t necessary for a balanced midrange build.

MellowOrbit27: Iโ€™d love those parts, but theyโ€™re definitely outside my budget.

Youโ€™re fine. Thereโ€™s no obvious compatibility or performance mistake here, and the build should be well suited to both gaming and programming.

Thereโ€™s nothing inherently wrong with that combination. If the parts fit your budget and performance needs, it should handle AAA games and coding without any major issue.

MellowOrbit27: The full setup came to roughly $1,190, so I was mainly wondering whether I could have gotten noticeably better performance for the money.

It sounds like a solid system overall. The main question is how much you paid specifically for the RTX 5060โ€”depending on local pricing, an AMD graphics card might have offered better gaming performance. Aside from that, the Ryzen 5 7500F is a capable pairing.
