I've noticed a strange burning plastic smell coming from my PC while it's running. This just started happening after months of usage. Could it be something overheating, or is there another issue at play?

What graphics card are you using? If it's a high-powered GPU, like a 5090 or similar, check the cables connecting it to the PSU for any issues.
Make sure to inspect all your cables thoroughly, just in case one of them is damaged. Also, did you hear a pop noise? Is your PC still booting up fine?
Yeah, it boots up normally.
If you're sure it's not the cables, consider checking your power supply unit (PSU). They can accumulate dust over time, which might lead to strange smells.
Sounds like you might have an electrical issue. First, check your GPU's 12-pin port to ensure it hasn't melted or shorted out. That could be the cause of the smell, rather than overheating itself.

It's a 4090 RTX.
