I'm planning to buy a Ryzen 7 5800X3D and have heard that the stock AMD cooler may not be sufficient. I'd prefer to stick with air cooling rather than use an AIO, but I'm concerned that a large dual-tower cooler could put too much stress on the motherboard. What cooler would you recommend, and is the weight of a larger model something I should worry about?

Large tower coolers are normally fine as long as they’re installed correctly and your case supports them. The motherboard mounting system is designed to handle this kind of cooler, so the weight alone shouldn’t damage it. Just check the cooler’s height clearance, RAM compatibility, and make sure the backplate and screws are secured properly.
The Thermalright Phantom Spirit is an excellent choice for the 5800X3D. It offers strong cooling for the price and is generally one of the best air coolers to consider. The Royal Praetor is another capable option.
