What are my options for getting internet while living with my parents?

I'm 18 and still living at home with my parents, but I'm trying to become fully independent. I've been looking into getting my own internet service, but it's proving to be a challenge. My parents have their own Breezeline service, and when I've called around, they say I can't get another internet connection because there's already one in the house. What alternatives do I have to get internet on my own?

In many cases, ISPs can set up a second line if you indicate it's for a business or certain specific needs. You might need to be a bit creative with how you phrase your request, like saying it’s for a separate living unit.

Have you thought about checking out T-Mobile's home internet service? If they cover your area, it's generally affordable and offers good service. Plus, they often have discounts if you combine it with a phone plan.

I’ll look into that, thanks for the tip!

You might want to check out 5G options. That's what I did when I was in a similar situation. There are portable Wi-Fi devices that could work for you too! Just make sure to get a plan that offers unlimited data so you’re not running out quickly.

I found that most mobile plans have limited 5G hotspot options, so definitely look into those portable Wi-Fi devices. They might provide a better solution for your needs.

If you explain to your internet provider that you need a second connection, they might be willing to set it up. I have both AT&T and Spectrum at my place for backup while working from home, and they helped me navigate that with no issues. It's worth a shot!

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll try contacting them!

Using your phone as a hotspot could be an immediate solution if you need internet right away, just remember that you might need to upgrade your phone plan for better data.

I’ll definitely consider this option!
