What are the Best CPU Upgrade Options for My Setup?

I'm currently using an Intel i7-9700K paired with an RTX 3070 and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I game on a 1440p 200Hz monitor as well as a 240Hz 1080p screen. I feel like my CPU might be holding me back in most games, especially since I play titles like Tarkov and CS2. I'm not looking to do a full rebuild right now due to high RAM prices and would like to keep using my DDR4 RAM if possible. What are some good, budget-friendly CPU and motherboard upgrade options I could consider?

If you're aiming to keep your RAM, I'd recommend looking at the Intel Gen 13 or 14 CPUs. They've made significant improvements, so you'd benefit from that without needing to switch to DDR5.

A solid choice for upgrading your CPU would be the Intel i5-14600K or KF along with a DDR4 LGA1700 motherboard. However, it's worth noting that your i7-9700K may not be a major bottleneck at 1440p with the RTX 3070. You might want to check if the performance improvement is worth the investment.

Not exactly budget-friendly, but if you want to stick with DDR4, consider a used 5700X3D or 5800X3D, particularly for Tarkov. It'll still be more cost-effective than moving to a DDR5 setup.

Honestly, there's not much of an upgrade path without switching platforms. The best CPU for your current board would be the i9-9900K, but even that isn’t a huge leap. Just so you know, if your RAM is only running at 2133 or 2400 MHz, you might want to upgrade to 3200 MHz for better performance overall.
