I'm on the hunt for a new backup solution for M365 since Veeam still can't effectively restore Planner, and their explorers require device code flow for any restoration tasks. I've narrowed it down to AvePoint, Dropsuite, Afi.ai, and ConnectWise SaaS Backup (formerly known as SkyKick) because they all seem to offer similar features and price points. Are there any alternatives that can be run on-premises? I'd love to hear about your experiences, especially regarding their reliability and ability to restore Planner data.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that Veeam currently lacks Planner support. Also curious about the device code flow—what issues are you facing with it? It’s used in their explorers to maintain the right permissions for restoring.
In my experience, AvePoint’s backup for M365 and D365 is solid, but I haven't specifically used it for Planner.
Make sure to get written confirmation that they can fully back up and restore Planner, and clarify any limitations they might have. Many claim to support Planner but might not cover every single detail of tasks or plans.
Check out our knowledge base for Afi’s Planner backup and recovery details, including how to browse, search, export, and restore tasks and plans.
AvePoint Cloud Backup definitely includes Planner support. They state ‘unlimited backup of content in Microsoft 365—including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and of course, Planner!’ Check out their technical overview for more info.

Great advice! I personally wouldn't rely on Planner yet, but it seems management is insistent on using it.
