What Budget Should I Aim for to Build a Good PC Right Now?

Hey everyone! With the economy being what it is, I'm trying to figure out my budget for building a decent PC, ideally with at least an RTX 5070 Ti. I'd like to keep the total cost under $3000 since I'm currently looking for a job and want to stay within my savings.

My current laptop, an MSI Katana with a 3050 Ti, is starting to fail (one of the CPU fans is dead), and while I'm planning to fix it, I want to have a solid backup plan.

I'm also open to laptop recommendations, although I'd really like to move away from them if possible. If you think a laptop might be the better option for someone in my situation, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

By the way, I don't need an OS pre-installed, and here's what I typically do on my PC: gaming, programming, and I've recently started exploring 3D work and animation, which is why I need a solid GPU. Let me know if you need any more details! Thanks!

You can definitely build a solid PC for under 2000 euros. A laptop isn’t worth it long-term since they’re generally not upgradeable and don’t hold resale value well. I’d suggest focusing on a good desktop build instead!

I disagree! For many, a laptop can be a great investment. If you find one that suits your needs, it might actually serve you better than a desktop, especially for someone who travels a lot.

What do you think of this setup? I'm thinking the 7800X3D would work well for your needs.

Based on what you’ve shared, 3000 is more than enough for a great build. Just to clarify, do you already have a gaming monitor or any peripherals like a mouse, keyboard, and headphones? If not, we can factor those into your total budget.

No peripherals at all; I’m starting from scratch. I’m leaning toward a non-RGB setup since it’s just not my thing right now.
