What cooler should I get for a Ryzen 7 5800X3D?

I'm planning to use a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, but I'm not sure which PC case I currently have and may replace it. Does this CPU require a specific cooler, and are there any compatibility or installation concerns I should know about? I'm open to either air cooling or an AIO as long as the price is reasonable.

I use a Peerless Assassin on a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and it works well. With a similar model, you can expect gaming temperatures roughly in the mid-50s to upper-60s Celsius, depending on the game and room temperature. Installation is fairly straightforward, and the included mounting hardware and thermal solution are usually all you need. Just check the coolerโs height clearance and RAM compatibility against your case before ordering.

A dual-tower air cooler is more than enough for the 5800X3D. The Thermalright Peerless Assassin and Phantom Spirit are popular because they perform very well for the price. Noctua coolers also work, but usually cost more. If you prefer liquid cooling, a 240mm or 360mm AIO is suitable, but a 120mm AIO generally isnโt worth buying since a good air cooler performs better for less money and with less hassle.

The Phantom Spirit is a safe choice if youโre unsure. The Peerless Assassin is another excellent option and is often available for around the same price. Either should handle this processor without trouble, provided your case has enough room for the coolerโs height and width.
