Thin, closely spaced horizontal lines have started appearing across my entire screen. This first happened about two months ago, disappeared on its own, and has now returned. The lines extend down the display with small gaps between them, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot or fix the problem. I've included a photo showing what they look like.

If the lines appear everywhere, including during startup or in the computer’s menus, this is probably a hardware problem with the display panel, its internal connection, or the display cable. Try connecting another monitor or taking a screenshot: if the lines don’t appear in the screenshot, the computer is likely fine and the physical screen or cable is the culprit.
The lines show up across the whole screen, not just in one app. I’ll check whether they appear during startup and test with another display.
