What Could Make Multiple AI Services Go Down at the Same Time?

I was testing four different large language model services this morning, and all of them stopped working at almost exactly the same time. A normal traffic spike seems possible, but I would have expected at least one provider to remain available. Could increased usage, shared infrastructure, a regional network problem, or something on my own connection explain this? I checked for obvious DNS or widespread outage reports but didn't see anything.

Also, some products are different interfaces around the same handful of underlying models or cloud platforms. A service may route requests through another provider, and tools such as coding assistants can let an organization choose between multiple models. So four visible services donโ€™t necessarily mean four completely independent systems.

CopperSparrow19: Exactlyโ€”one product name doesnโ€™t always tell you where the actual model or supporting infrastructure is running. Shared cloud, authentication, or routing dependencies can create a surprisingly broad-looking outage.

A coordinated global failure is possible, but it would be unusual for several independent AI companies to fail at precisely the same moment. Regional routing trouble, a shared CDN or DNS provider, expired authentication tokens, rate limits, or a temporary problem between your ISP and their data centers are more plausible explanations than all of the model clusters going down together.

The services may be more interconnected than they appear. Providers can share cloud platforms, CDNs, identity systems, DNS providers, or other upstream services. A failure in one of those layers could affect several products at once, even when the model companies themselves are separate.

Youโ€™re the common factor here, so first check your local network, ISP, browser session, VPN, firewall, and DNS resolver. If several unrelated sites fail at once from the same connection, a local or regional connectivity issue is much more likely than four providers independently crashing.
