I'm planning a major upgrade to my current gaming setup. My system has a Ryzen 7 5700G, RTX 3060 12GB, MSI B550 Tomahawk MAX motherboard, Gamdias Kratos M1 B1 600W PSU, 1TB WD Black SSD, 48GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM, and an Acer Predator XB273GX monitor.
I'm considering replacing the graphics card with an RX 9070 XT, which would also mean upgrading the power supply and monitor. I definitely want an OLED display, but I'm unsure whether 1440p, ultrawide 1440p, or 4K would make the most sense. I've been looking at the ASUS ROG PG32UCDP, though its regular price is around $1,050 and I've seen it discounted to roughly $850.
For 1440p OLED options, I've also considered models from AOC, MSI, and ASUS but haven't settled on one. Should I upgrade the CPU before buying the monitor, and what resolution and power supply would best match the 9070 XT?

I’d lean toward 1440p rather than 4K for gaming. It’s much easier to maintain high frame rates, and a good 1440p OLED will still look excellent. The specific model depends on your preferred size, refresh rate, and budget, since every major brand has both strong and mediocre displays. You’ll also need to replace the current 600W PSU.
A CPU upgrade would be worthwhile before pairing the system with a 9070 XT. A Ryzen 7 5800X3D would be the ideal drop-in option, while a 5700X3D is usually the better value if you can find one. For the PSU, look for a reputable 850W model that ranks well on a current PSU tier list; 1000W is fine for extra headroom but probably unnecessary.
I haven’t picked a PSU yet, but I was thinking somewhere between 850W and 1000W to be safe. I’ll definitely look into adding an X3D CPU as well.
A 3440x1440 ultrawide is a nice middle ground. It gives you more immersion than standard 1440p without being as demanding as 4K. Even when a game supports 4K, I’d often lower the resolution to gain smoother performance, especially with newer games that aren’t well optimized.
I’ve been moving away from competitive games lately and playing more single-player titles, although I may return to competitive gaming eventually. An ultrawide OLED could be a good compromise.
The Ryzen 7 5700G is closer to a Ryzen 7 3700X than a modern gaming CPU, so it may limit a high-end graphics card in some games. Upgrade the CPU and replace the low-end PSU before spending over $800 on a monitor. For gaming, I generally prefer 1440p because the higher frame rate is more noticeable during play than the extra pixel density of 4K. A quality OLED or mini-LED display should provide a much bigger image-quality improvement than changing brands alone.
I was considering an 850W to 1000W PSU but will probably choose a good 850W unit. I’ll also research which CPU upgrade makes the most sense for the 9070 XT.
