What CPU should I pair with my used RTX 3080?

I've just purchased a used RTX 3080 with 10 GB of memory, upgrading from a 6 GB GTX 1060. Currently, I'm running an i5-7600k and I plan to buy a new CPU before installing my new GPU. I'm looking to stick with the AM4 socket since I don't want to invest in DDR5 RAM and I mainly play CS2 at 1080p on low settings. I'm flexible with my budget, but I don't need the absolute highest-end CPU. Any recommendations on what would work well for my setup? Also, I know I'll need to get a new motherboard for this upgrade.

Considering you want to keep using DDR4, the Intel i5-12600K could be a great option. It's relatively affordable, has solid gaming performance, and you can overclock it for even more power.

If you're looking for good performance, any x3D CPU like the 5700X3D or 5800X3D would do wonders for CS2, particularly improving 1% lows. Just keep in mind they can be a bit rare and pricey these days.

While the x3D CPUs are recommended, they're tough to find at decent prices. The 5800X is a solid non-x3D option if you're looking for something more accessible.

Before you make any changes, if you consider upgrading to a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU later, just ensure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date to avoid any issues.

I paired my 3080 with an i5-12400, and it runs fantastically! Even while streaming and multitasking. Just be cautious with the stock cooler; it can be a bit noisy. Upgrading to a better cooler made a big difference for me.
