What CPU should I upgrade to on an LGA1700 motherboard for my RTX 5070 Ti?

I have an LGA1700 motherboard, an Intel Core i5-12400F, and an RTX 5070 Ti. I feel like the processor may be limiting my frame rates and want to get the most out of the graphics card. Which compatible Intel CPU would be the best upgrade for gaming?

For gaming, the Core i5-14600KF is probably the best value upgrade. It offers performance close to the higher-end i7 and i9 chips in games while costing less and using less power. The i5-13600KF is also a good option if it is significantly cheaper.

Before installing a 13th- or 14th-generation CPU, update the motherboard BIOS to the latest stable version. These processors had early voltage and stability issues on some boards, and newer BIOS versions include important fixes. Also make sure your cooler and power limits are adequate, since the faster chips run considerably hotter than the 12400F.

A Core i7-14700K is a strong choice if you want extra headroom for streaming, productivity, or other heavy workloads. For gaming alone, though, it usually is not worth paying much more than the 14600K or 14600KF unless the price difference is small.

SunnyWalrus31: The 14700K generally has similar gaming performance to the i9 models, but it is cheaper and easier to cool. You do not need a K-series chip unless you plan to overclock, although it can still make sense if the pricing is good.
