Hey everyone, I'm looking for guidance on upgrading to Windows 11. My current PC specs are:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 Eight-Core Processor at 3.00 GHz
- RAM: 16.0 GB
- Storage: 447 GB SSD and 3.64 TB HDD
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 (8 GB)
I think I need a new CPU for compatibility, but I'm unsure about any other requirements. Can anyone help with what I need and maybe suggest an affordable CPU that could set me up for future upgrades? Thanks a lot!

Your current CPU isn't compatible with Windows 11, but since it's AM4, you can upgrade to a compatible one. Make sure to update your motherboard's firmware before swapping CPUs. If you already have Windows 10, you can do an in-place upgrade easily. If you're doing a fresh install, having a valid Windows 10 product key will help. Just remember to switch your boot image to GPT instead of MBR for a smooth upgrade. There are plenty of tutorials online to guide you through this!
You'll also need a new motherboard that has TPM support. Just keep in mind that the new board may not work with your current CPU or RAM, so check compatibility first!

Thanks for the heads-up! Where would you recommend looking for hardware recommendations?
