I recently bought an HP Omen desktop, and its hardware specifications aren't especially high-end. I've heard that some people with similar BIOS versions can't run Modern Warfare, which has me wondering whether my BIOS could prevent other games from working in the future. I'm also planning to upgrade to an NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti or 5080 when GTA 6 eventually comes to PC, and I expect to use an AMD processor. Can someone explain what BIOS compatibility actually affects and whether I should be concerned?

BIOS usually isn’t what makes a game “out of date.” The issue is more likely a requirement such as TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, or a supported UEFI configuration. Some newer games and anti-cheat systems check those settings. First, look up your exact HP Omen model and see whether HP provides a newer BIOS update. Also check whether TPM and Secure Boot are available and enabled in the firmware settings. Don’t install a BIOS file meant for a different model.
A future graphics card upgrade won’t normally depend on the BIOS supporting a particular game. Your bigger concerns will be the power supply, case clearance, cooling, and whether the motherboard has a suitable PCIe slot. If you eventually switch to an AMD CPU, you’ll need a motherboard with the correct socket and BIOS support for that processor, so replacing the CPU may also require replacing the motherboard. For the current game issue, check the game’s exact error message instead of assuming the BIOS is unsupported.
That makes more sense. I wasn’t sure whether the BIOS itself controlled game compatibility or whether there were separate security requirements involved.
