What GPU and RAM upgrades make sense for my Ryzen 5 5600X build?

I have a few-year-old prebuilt PC that currently uses a Ryzen 5 5600X, a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, and 8 GB of RAM. The system has become pretty laggy, and I'm having trouble running many of the games my friends play. I'd like to upgrade the GPU and RAM myself, mainly so I can run the new Halloween game. I'm not looking for an ultra-high-end setup, and I'd ideally like to keep the total cost under about $650 USD. What parts should I consider, and are there any compatibility details I should check first?

Start by confirming the exact gameโ€™s system requirements and your monitorโ€™s resolution. Upgrading from 8 GB to 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM should help with general lag and newer games, but the GTX 1050 Ti is likely the biggest gaming limitation. You may not need to spend the entire budget if a reasonably priced 16 GB or 32 GB DDR4 kit and a midrange graphics card meet the gameโ€™s recommended requirements.

With a budget around $650, a modern midrange GPU paired with 32 GB of DDR4-3200 memory should be a substantial upgrade. Options such as a Radeon RX 9060 XT with 16 GB of VRAM, or a discounted RX 9070 GRE if you find one within budget, could work well with the Ryzen 5 5600X. Before buying, check your power supplyโ€™s wattage and connectors, the available space in the case, and whether your motherboard uses standard DDR4 desktop memory.

MellowPine47: Thanks! Iโ€™m going to compare those GPU options and check my power supply and case before ordering anything.
