My RX 7800 XT died about a month ago, but it was still under warranty, so the RMA resulted in a refund of roughly €600. GPU prices and availability are currently awkward, and I'm unsure whether to buy a replacement now or wait for newer models. I'm considering cards such as the RX 9070, RX 9070 XT, or RTX 5070 Ti. I don't want to spend money on something that performs worse than my old 7800 XT, but I'd also prefer not to add much—or ideally any—extra money to the refund. What would be the best-value upgrade or replacement?

The RX 9070 and 9070 XT are probably the most sensible upgrades. They offer strong performance for the money and should be a clear step up from the 7800 XT.

The RTX 5070 Ti performs around the same level as the RX 9070 XT in many games, but it usually costs considerably more, so it’s difficult to recommend unless you specifically need Nvidia features. The RX 9070 series is generally better value.
