I've heard about the AMD RX 400 and 500 series being heavily mined, but I'm curious which other GPUs or generations have been popular for mining. Can anyone share their insights on this?

The GTX 10 series and the 30 series were both mined heavily. Also, don't forget the 900 series—that was mined quite a bit just before the 10 series launched.
Just a heads up, mined cards are as viable as non-mined ones. They can have the same issues as any used cards, so just check their condition before buying. Sometimes, a well-maintained mined card can be better than a poorly kept non-mined one.
A lot of RX 580 and GTX 1060 6GB cards were used primarily for mining, too.
The RTX 30 series has definitely seen a lot of mining action. Do you have any specific models in mind from that series?
Yeah, I’m curious about the specific models too.
From what I remember, the Radeon RX Vega series was a major player due to its high VRAM and performance, especially for mining certain cryptocurrencies.

Absolutely! The GTX 900 series was really popular among miners back in the day.
