What Happens if My USB Drive Ends Up in the Toilet?

So, here's the story: my daughter accidentally flushed my Sandisk USB drive down the toilet, and I found out about it three days later. I'm worried about the confidential work data on it. Is there any chance someone could dig it up from the plumbing, and will the USB itself be intact after going through all that? We live in a big apartment building with 40 units, so who knows where it could go!

Honestly, it's hard to say for sure. If someone does happen to find it and dries it out properly, it *might* still work, but the odds are super low. Why did you wrap it in toilet paper in the first place? And maybe next time, don’t let your little one near sensitive stuff!

Yeah, there’s a slim chance it could be recoverable. If it ends up in the main sewer system, those folks could potentially retrieve it, but they might just toss it out without a second thought. Definitely not the best situation for confidential info to be in, though!
