I heard that the Tailwind CSS team might not be able to continue supporting the project because of the impact of AI on their funding. What do you think would happen to Tailwind and its future if that were the case?

After they announced the potential downsizing, Tailwind actually attracted several new sponsors. While it's unclear if that'll let them rehire staff, it looks like at least one core maintainer will stick around for now. This situation highlights a shift in the software world; with AI growing, fewer developers might be inclined to maintain or release new software if they don’t see benefits. We could end up with increased vulnerabilities in existing tools if developers stop supporting them. Also, licenses may change to require AI companies to pay for access to essential code. So, expect to see more closed-source options and innovative products potentially taking a hit.
Honestly, I think they had a flawed business model from the start. Plus, since there were only four developers, losing three of them isn't a huge blow. It might not impact Tailwind as much as some fear.

Actually, I think having only one or two core developers left could be a pretty big deal. More developers usually mean a more robust project!
