What Intel CPU Should I Get for My RTX 4060 Setup?

Hey everyone! I currently have an Intel i3 12100F CPU and I'm looking to upgrade since I don't think it's powerful enough for my new RTX 4060 GPU. Here's what I have in my system: an Asus H610M motherboard, a nice AIO cooler, and a 600W power supply. I know I could go for AMD, but I already have the Intel setup. What do you all think is the best Intel CPU to pair with my RTX 4060?

I have an RTX 4070 running on an Intel 11700K, and I almost never experience lag. Your 12100F should hold up fine with the 4060 unless you're playing at very high settings. Just give it a shot before you decide to upgrade!

Honestly, the best Intel CPU for you really depends on your budget. Since you already have a setup, why not test your current CPU with the RTX 4060 first and see how it performs? You might be pleasantly surprised!

If you're looking for a solid upgrade, consider the i5 13400. It's a great balance of price and performance. But honestly, if youโre just gaming, the 12100F seems adequate unless youโre running into performance issues.

With your motherboard, you'll likely be limited to 12th to 14th generation CPUs. The H610M can handle quite a few newer chips, especially if you update the BIOS. Just check to ensure compatibility, but you could go for something like the i7 12700F for better multitasking and gaming experience.
TechNerd47: True, and the 12700 is a great value these days if you can find a good deal! Just make sure your BIOS is up to date.
GameMaster22: I heard the BIOS updates are pretty straightforward too, so that should be easy!

The 12100F is a solid match for the RTX 4060, but if you want to squeeze more performance, an upgrade might be worthwhile. You could look at the i5 12600 or even the 14400F if your motherboard supports it, giving you a good boost in gaming performance without breaking the bank.

UpgradePath2023: Thatโs exactly my concern! I've noticed some frame drops in certain games, so I'm leaning toward getting a bit more power.
TechSage1981: The 12100F is decent, but you might feel the need for more cores for future titles. An i5 could really help.
