What is the best AM4 CPU for 1440p gaming?

I'm looking for recommendations on a good AM4 CPU for gaming at 1440p. Initially, I considered AM5, but the prices for DDR5 memory are really high, so I've decided to stick with AM4. The AMD 5800X3D is a bit out of my budget, and I'm planning to pair the CPU with either an RX 9060 XT or a 7800 XT graphics card.

I run a 5700X with a 3080 and it's been great for both gaming at 1440p and streaming. I recommend it if you can get your hands on one. Just know that the temps can get pretty high, so keep an eye on cooling!

For pure gaming, I'd suggest going with the Ryzen 5 5600X. If you want something a bit better for multitasking, the Ryzen 7 5700X is a solid choice. Just grab whichever one you can find at a reasonable price!

The 5600X will keep up just fine for 1440p gaming, but if you can, go for the 5700X to help reduce any bottlenecks. Pairing it with a solid GPU makes a big difference too!

My wife uses a 5600X3D at 1440p and it's a fantastic gaming CPU, especially with all the tasks like office work it handles easily. Plus, it should be able to manage any gaming demands you throw at it at that resolution!

If you're aiming for around 120fps, keep in mind that your CPU requirements will differ compared to targeting 240fps. The level of performance you want and the type of games you'll play will be key in determining what CPU you need.
