I'm new to Linux and just got a Dell mini PC that I want to use as a spare computer. I've heard Linux is ideal for small devices like this, but there are so many distributions to pick from! I'm looking for something lightweight and user-friendly, especially one that can run an Android emulator. Any suggestions?

Linux Mint is a solid choice—it’s often recommended for beginners. If you want something really lightweight, consider the XFCE version. But if your hardware is from around 2010 or later, the Cinnamon version should work great too!
I installed Fedora on my Dell G3, and it’s been fantastic! The support is top-notch, and it even updated the BIOS! Definitely worth considering if you want something more cutting-edge.
If you're unsure, just go with Mint. It's really beginner-friendly and has a lot of support!
I'd stick with Zorin or Mint. Fedora can be a bit tricky since it’s more of a testing distro—you might run into issues. Mint or Zorin is safer for someone new to Linux!
I've got multiple mini PCs and they've all handled Linux like champs! If you're running on a 2.5" HDD, upgrading to an SSD will really boost performance, although prices have gotten pretty wild lately. For newbies, I usually suggest Linux Mint or Zorin OS—they're both user-friendly. You can use a tool called Ventoy to easily test both by booting them from a USB drive. If you have 4GB RAM or less, go with the XFCE or Mate edition of Mint. Otherwise, the regular Cinnamon version is the way to go! Zorin only has the GNOME desktop, so it's less flexible.
True, but since it uses X11, you might struggle with Waydroid, which needs Wayland. Just a heads up!
