I bought a Gigabyte H810M S2H on sale, but although its manual claims it supports Q-Flash Plus, the board has no Q-Flash button or clearly marked flash ports. I've started a return and plan to send it back, but I don't want to repeat the same mistake. I'm looking for a motherboard that supports the Core Ultra 250K Plus out of the box, or at least has a reliable CPU-less BIOS flashback feature. I'd rather not spend around $200 on an older processor just to update a $60 motherboard. What boards should I consider?

For a guaranteed CPU-less update, download the motherboard manual before purchasing and look for an actual BIOS Flashback or Q-Flash Plus procedure. If the manual doesn’t explain which rear USB port and button to use, assume the feature isn’t present. You can also ask the retailer whether they’ll verify compatibility or update the BIOS before shipping it.
I’d skip H810 and look at a B860 board that explicitly lists the 250K Plus as supported from the installed BIOS version. A Z890 board is another option if you want more features or tuning headroom, but B860 should be enough for a normal build. Check the support list and the BIOS version printed on the box before buying.
The ASUS Prime Z890M Plus looks like a safer direction if its processor support page confirms the CPU works across all listed BIOS revisions. A compatible B860 board may be better value, though, especially if you don’t need the extra Z890 features. Returning the H810 is probably the right call rather than buying an older CPU just for a firmware update.
Make sure you’re not choosing purely based on CPU compatibility. The 250K Plus is an 18-core chip that can pull roughly 100–150 watts, so a very cheap board with a weak or poorly cooled VRM may technically boot but throttle under sustained workloads. You don’t need an expensive flagship board, but choose a reasonably built B860 or Z890 model rather than the absolute cheapest option.

That’s what worries me now. The H810 manual specifically claimed it had Q-Flash Plus, but the physical board doesn’t have the button or connections, so I’m concerned the documentation was copied from another model. I’d rather spend a little more than gamble on another board.
