I'm planning a completely new PC and monitor setup in Croatia, with a hard total budget of €5,000. The main use will be DaVinci Resolve with 4K 10-bit footage, while high-end 4K gaming is the secondary priority. I already have a keyboard, mouse, and headphones, but no reusable PC parts or monitor.
I'd like one monitor, ideally a 32-inch 4K model with a high refresh rate. OLED is appealing for gaming, although I'm open to a different panel if it is a better choice for editing, longevity, and overall value.

I'll use a wired network connection, have no strict size restrictions, and care more about performance, reliability, cooling, and low noise than RGB or appearance.
The €5,000 limit is a maximum rather than a spending target. If a €3,000–€4,000 system delivers nearly everything I need, I'd prefer that over spending extra for small gains. However, I'm willing to spend closer to the limit if it provides a meaningful improvement in Resolve, gaming, reliability, or long-term usefulness. I'm looking for the best high-end sweet spot before diminishing returns become excessive.

An AMD 9070 XT-based system could come in well below €3,000 before extras and would be excellent for ordinary 4K gaming. That leaves plenty for a high-quality OLED monitor and more storage. However, because Resolve is a major use case, Nvidia deserves serious consideration even if AMD offers better rasterized gaming value. The best choice depends on how much of your editing workload relies on CUDA-accelerated effects, encoding, and AI tools.
A sensible build could use a current high-end gaming CPU, 64GB of DDR5 memory, a 1TB NVMe drive for the operating system and applications, plus a separate 2TB or 4TB NVMe drive for active media and cache. Choose a quality 850W–1000W Gold-rated power supply depending on the graphics card, and use a large airflow-focused case with a strong air cooler. Water cooling is not necessary unless you specifically want it; a good tower cooler is simpler and generally easier to maintain. Avoid paying a premium for exotic motherboard features that will not improve Resolve or gaming.
For the display, a 32-inch 4K high-refresh OLED is excellent for gaming and general editing, but OLED has practical drawbacks for a long-term editing workstation: possible burn-in, automatic brightness limiting, and less ideal text clarity than some LCD options. If the monitor will show static UI elements for many hours every day, compare it with a high-quality 32-inch 4K mini-LED or IPS model. If you want the best contrast and gaming response and are comfortable taking burn-in precautions, OLED is still a very compelling choice.
For DaVinci Resolve, an Nvidia GPU is the safer choice because CUDA support and hardware video encoders are useful for many editing and effects workloads. A GeForce RTX 5070 Ti may be the value sweet spot: the RTX 5080 is faster, but its price premium can be much larger than the real-world performance difference. Put the savings into 64GB or 96GB of RAM, fast storage, and a good monitor. If your projects use heavy Fusion effects, noise reduction, or demanding grades, the 5080 becomes easier to justify.
That makes sense for value, although the 5070 Ti is more upper-midrange than genuinely high-end. If maximum 4K gaming performance and a longer upgrade cycle matter more than price, the 5080 is the stronger choice.
