What PC build should I get for a heavily modded Skyrim setup under $5,000?

I've been playing Skyrim on console in the US for around 15 years and want to start fresh on a powerful PC with an optimized mod setup. I'm still learning PC-building terminology and would like recommendations for both the computer and a good monitor rather than playing on my TV. Is it realistic to build the whole setup for under $5,000, and where should I begin?

A $5,000 budget is more than enough for an excellent gaming PC. You’d usually be looking at roughly $2,000–$3,000 for a high-end build, leaving plenty for a monitor, peripherals, and Skyrim modding resources. If there’s a Micro Center about an hour away, it may be worth checking their bundle deals and build services.
