I'm planning to upgrade to an RTX 5080 and currently have a Corsair RM650x. What power-supply wattage and models would you recommend? I'd like something reliable with the right connector and enough headroom for the rest of my system, but I'm not sure whether 850W is sufficient or if I should move up to 1000W.

A quality A-tier 850W unit should be enough for most RTX 5080 builds, since NVIDIA’s recommendation is 850W. Good options include the newer Corsair RM850x or Seasonic Focus GX-850. Make sure the PSU is ATX 3.0 or 3.1 compliant and includes a native 12V-2x6 cable.
Focus on the specifications more than just the brand: look for an A-tier model with ATX 3.0 or 3.1 certification and a native 12V-2x6 connector. Also estimate your complete system’s power draw, since the ideal wattage depends on the CPU and other components. When installing the GPU cable, push it fully into place and avoid sharply bending it near the connector.
You can choose a 1000W A-tier PSU if the price difference is small, especially if you’re using a high-power CPU or want extra room for transient spikes. Otherwise, 850W is the sensible choice for a typical system. The ASRock Steel Legend 1000W is one option that can be relatively affordable.

So would you recommend the RM850x? I feel like 1000W might be more than I need.
