What reliable alternatives are there to Verizon One Talk for business phone service?

Our company currently uses Verizon One Talk, and we've had serious reliability problems. We suspect some incoming calls never reach us because callers report that the line simply clicks off without ringing any of our phones. This became especially urgent after taking on a commercial contract that requires overnight call coverage. We need to replace the system as soon as possible and are looking for dependable business VoIP or hosted phone service with features such as ring groups, call forwarding, schedules, and support for after-hours calls. What providers have worked well for your organization?

Google Voice for Workspace may be a good fit if you’re already using Google Workspace. With compatible desk phones, it supports ring groups, forwarding, business hours, and other basic call-routing features. We moved away from ShoreTel and evaluated several vendors before choosing it because the setup was simple for our needs.

It’s not the most elaborate system, but the simplicity can be a real advantage when your requirements are straightforward.

Votacall has been very reliable in my experience. They generally provide and manage their own equipment, which made support and troubleshooting easier. Availability may depend on your location, so confirm that they service your area.

Dialpad has worked very well for us. Both our staff and the people calling us have been happy with it, and we haven’t run into the call-delivery issues you’re describing.

We use 3CX and it has been solid overall. It’s worth considering if you want more control over the phone system and deployment.

We deploy 3CX for customers and have had a great experience with it. It’s been reliable for us.

We’ve used Verticomm for nearly two years and haven’t had any unresolved problems. The desktop phones indicate incoming calls properly; the only annoyance is that our cordless Yealink handsets don’t have an incoming-call indicator light.

The best choice depends on your current phones, number of users, and how much administration you want to handle. Options worth comparing include Microsoft Teams Phone, YoVu, and VoIP.ms. Teams is a reasonable fit if your company already relies heavily on Microsoft 365.

Teams has worked fine for us, especially since we already use the rest of the Microsoft 365 stack.
