Hey everyone! I recently experienced a frustrating situation with Telegram. After not logging in for just a couple of days, I found myself logged out of both of my accounts. When I tried to log back in using the OTP SMS, my username had been changed to something random, and my account was limited because whoever hacked it had sent out a ton of spam. I managed to recover one account by contacting their support, but sadly, the other account got banned, which means I've lost all my chats, channels, and subscriptions, all accumulated over years. I've been in touch with Telegram through email, but I haven't received a response. I've had this account for over a decade, and I'm really stressed about the situation. I think the hack happened because I might have accidentally downloaded some malware onto my PC that cloned my numbers. I've not received any alerts or messages from Telegram about any suspicious logins, which is concerning. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

It really sounds like a frustrating situation. Unfortunately, Telegram's policy on account security is pretty strict. They usually won't intervene in cases where accounts are compromised; they see it as the user’s responsibility. So, while it's tough to hear, they tend to expect users to safeguard their accounts. It’s a good idea to change passwords for any other accounts you've connected to the same devices right away. Be sure to run a full malware scan on your PC, just in case you really did pick something up. It’s better to be safe than sorry!
Honestly, it seems like your best bet at this point is to wait for Telegram's support to respond, even though that can be frustrating. To the point about malware, if you've never experienced a hack before, it might be a good idea to check your computer thoroughly. Sometimes, even the most basic antivirus can miss certain threats. Running a dedicated malware removal tool could help too!
Yeah, I guess I just have to hang tight. Thanks for the malware tool suggestion! I'll definitely look into that.
It’s tough, but remember that finding the right help starts with being proactive. While I can’t help with Telegram specifics, sharing where you downloaded suspicious programs could help others avoid the same trap. Educating everyone on safe browsing practices could turn this situation into a cautionary tale.
I appreciate that! I’ll definitely keep sharing my experience so others can learn from it.
That's true, and it can really suck when support isn't as responsive as we'd like. Have you looked into some reliable antivirus solutions? Some can actively monitor for malware, which could help prevent future issues.
